This approach acknowledges the pervasive impact of trauma on individuals and promotes collaborative support amongst school staff, families and community systems. At Rivermont Schools, licensed mental health providers provide access to therapeutic interventions based on each student’s individualized needs. Rivermont Schools actively implements a trauma informed approach by understanding that behavior is communication and addressing signs of trauma as supportively and safely as possible. As trauma-informed schools, Rivermont Schools provide a safe and welcoming environment. The learning atmosphere is predictable and sensitive to re-traumatization. We utilize restorative practices and respond to crisis situations with trauma-informed intervention practices.
