Posted March 04, 2024
We are thrilled to share that Rivermont Schools won the 2023 First-Time Participant All-Star title after taking part in the Jumpstart: Read for the Record Day national campaign on October 26. This national event promotes inclusive literacy and social-emotional development for children in early education by creating the largest shared reading experience in the country. Rivermont Schools had over 1,000 students and staff across 15 schools participating in their first-ever Read for the Record. Activities included older students reading to younger ones, students writing postcards and letters, making a collaborative quilt, and designing a memory book. As a winner, Jumpstart arranged a special virtual reading of the book, With Lots of Love, by the author, Jenny Torres Sanchez on February 13th. Rivermont Schools' outstanding achievement as a first-time participant that went above and beyond for Read for the Record Day exemplifies their dedication to fostering a love for literacy and creating a memorable shared reading experience for all.
